Akbar Basheer, Regional Sales Manager Middle East at ROCKWOOL Technical Insulation
Akbar Basheer is Regional Sales Manager for the Middle East. Based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, he is responsible for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon. Akbar began his career at the ROCKWOOL Group in 2013, joining ROCKWOOL Technical Insulation in 2015. He has a graduate degree in mechanical engineering.
“My job is achieving growth and hitting sales targets by successfully managing the customer group within my area of responsibility. Plus: managing the Middle Eastern engineering specification requirements and driving demand for stone wool products and systems among leading ownership groups, global design houses, EPC and industry consultants. That can be quite a challenge in this extremely diverse region. There are often many cultural and commercial barriers to conducting business. My role is to find the best solution to overcome them in the best interests of our customers and ROCKWOOL Technical Insulation. That’s why, in my day-to-day activities, I’m mainly engaged in stakeholder interactions through face-to-face meetings. A high percentage of my time I’m travelling around the Middle East ensuring the physical presence of ROCKWOOL Technical Insulation for customers.”
Being a sales manager, it’s my job to develop sales. Our sales process is a long one because of how lengthy the projects are, so I find it very rewarding to see our hard work bearing fruit.
